Work Scope as A Member of Parliament

People expect many things from their elected representatives and when these expectations do not fulfil, people acknowledge it with their votes. The same thing happened in Maharashtra state’s Raigad Lok Sabha constituency. A Member of Parliament for continuous six terms Mr Anant Geete has been defeated by the NCP leader, former Minister Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare in 17th Lok Sabha elections. This is an indication of revolution because Raigad seat was always considered as a sure shot seat for Shiv Sena and the result is the out now.

Raigad people are expecting many changes and initiatives from the newly appointed Member of Parliament, Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare. People have noticed that the leadership of Shiv Sena leader, Mr Anant Geete was just a formality and people were tired with his inactive attitude towards the district development. In this situation, Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare is elected with a 21000-vote difference and his responsibility is increased to fulfil the people’s expectations.

There is a huge scope for Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare to begin new initiatives in Konkan region. He can work in different sectors to assure the overall development of the Konkan region. Basically, Raigad constituency consists of Raigad district and north area of Ratnagiri district. Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare needs to work on the fundamental amenities in the constituency because the Konkan region is deprived of basic facilities such as transportation facilities to connect remote areas, education facilities in a remote area, lack of advanced educational facilities, irrigation facility, etc.

Konkan area people have very fewer options for wealth generation due to their inabilities in professional skills, no infrastructure, and fewer employment options. Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare is credible for the development of Raigad district on the tourism front, he needs to think again on a wider angle to assure better wealth generation possibilities for Konkani people. His earlier thought process to develop food processing business units, fishery-related business units can take momentum and it can assure employment options for Konkani people. Actually, the promotion of Konkan tourism is the key to Konkan development, Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare noticed it and if he can implement this in future, the picture will be pretty clear.

Having the Member of Parliament position in the centre, Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare can opt for bringing new projects in Konkan area. Generally, Konkani people deny chemical based plants in the area because it has many hazards on health and the environment. Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare can work on the setup of other industries in the Konkan region. He also needs to work on innovative business ideas and projects in the Konkan region.

People trust Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare, and this is proved with his appointment as a Member of Parliament. His work during his tenure as Finance Minister was excellent and even, he continued his work after his tenure and that is the most striking aspect of his work. Hopefully, he gets success in all his ventures to empower the Konkan region.
