Hon. Mr Sunil Tatkare Raised Issue Regarding Mumbai-Goa Highway Expansion

A country can be governed by the best and ideal government only in certain circumstances and one of the major conditions to assure the governance is best is that the opposite party also should be equally strong to criticise and to point out the wrongs of the ruling party. Recently the same experience is taken by the PWD Minister of the state Mr Chandrakant Patil who was criticised and taunted by opposition party leader Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare regarding Mumbai-Goa highway project.

Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare taunted the PWD Department of the state cabinet and said that the Minister keeps giving a new deadline every time for the expansion project. He said that he has raised issues in every season regarding this. But unfortunately, land acquisition is still not done for certain areas. Hopefully, the state government shall continue the work and assure the completion of the Mumbai-Goa expansion project.

Surprisingly on this issue, the PWD Minister, Mr Chandrakant Patil has accepted the fault adding that there were certain issues pending regarding this project’s land acquisition. The Mumbai-Goa highway expansion project is one of the prolonged demands and pending projects for many years. It should have been completed in time if the land acquisition issues would have resolved by the current government. Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare has raised the issue regarding Mumbai -Goa Highway expansion pending project in the house and PWD Minister has to answer on it.

Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare has been always conscious of the Konkan region development and he always addressed the problems of Konkan area and Konkani people. Mr Sunil Tatkare has a great development vision and he understands that Mumbai — Goa highway expansion can expand the horizon of Konkan area development, substantially. This highway expansion will assure better connectivity, transport facilities for Konkani people and also, it will promote tourism in the Konkan region. Therefore, Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare raised the issue on the pending project of the PWD department of Mumbai- Goa highway expansion and also expected to complete the work as early as possible.

The pressure by opposition parties is important to assure better governance out of the ruling party and this is an ideal example of how the opposition party performs for the betterment of people and the state. Honourable Mr Sunil Tatkare is well known and respected for his contribution to the Raigad district. His consciousness for the development, pending issues of Raigad district projects is revealed with this example and it will also put pressure on the ruling party to accomplish the pending work as early as possible.
